Auditing B2B AI recommendation reasons after a supplier makes the shortlist

Quick answer
Once a supplier is shortlisted, break each recommendation reason into a claim that can be verified.
Check the brand or model it belongs to, whether the cited page supports it and whether relevant conditions were omitted. A brand name and a citation do not establish that the whole recommendation is accurate. The audit should return to the retained answer and the supporting passage.
Details
Break the recommendation into claims
This page concerns suppliers already included or recommended, rather than diagnosing shortlist absence. For an industrial supplier, useful audit dimensions include operating conditions, specifications, compatibility and service boundaries. For enterprise software, they might include features, deployment and integrations. These are audit examples, not claims about any vendor's capabilities.
Retain the original answer and create a record for each reason.
Field
Question to answer
Original claim
What did the answer say, including qualifications?
Subject
Which brand, product, model or version does it describe?
Comparison dimension
Is the reason about specifications, application, service or something else?
Supporting passage
Which public passage supports it, beyond the domain name?
Applicable scope
Which market, operating conditions, version and date apply?
Audit result
Supported, partial, conflicting, unsupported or unverifiable?
A link does not support a whole paragraph by default
An illustrative paragraph might describe a product's application, compatibility and service scope. If its source discusses only the application, the other claims still need separate evidence. This example explains the method and is not a real brand or measured answer.
Mark an inaccessible page as unverifiable and an answer without sources as having no displayed source. A lack of visible evidence is not itself proof of an error; a plausible statement is not itself proof of accuracy.
Check attribution carefully in comparisons
Compare brand names, models and adjacent passages to see whether a specification has been transferred from another supplier or product. If the source's subject and the answer's subject differ, record the mismatch and ask the product owner to confirm the valid facts.
Missing evidence and incorrect facts require different actions. The former needs further verification; the latter needs a confirmed valid statement and an identified correction target. Owned pages can be changed after approval; other authors can be given public correction evidence. A comparison answer cannot establish what optimization a competitor performed or justify an accusation about its conduct.
Retest reasons as well as names
Retain changed URLs, versions and publication times, then repeat the question using comparable conditions. Observe inclusion, reason attribution, accuracy and source support separately. A supplier can remain shortlisted while important errors remain unresolved.
Use the same audit record before and after, with unknowns visible. A change in reasons is an answer observation, not proof of a purchasing or sales outcome. See the existing

Common questions
Q: Why audit the evidence after AI has recommended our supplier?
A: A favourable answer may still contain old specifications, misattribution or omitted conditions. Auditing each reason checks whether the evidence presented to buyers matches current public facts.
Q: How do we verify each reason in an industrial supplier recommendation?
A: Record each claim's subject, comparison dimension, source passage, conditions and audit result. Have the relevant product owner confirm facts rather than replacing the review with a general verdict.
Q: Does a citation at the end of a paragraph support every claim?
A: Not automatically. Locate support for each claim and distinguish partial support, missing evidence and an inaccessible source.
Q: How do we handle competitor specifications attributed to our brand?
A: Save the original claim, citation and subject mismatch, then confirm the valid product facts. Prepare approved corrections to controlled pages or public correction material, and retest attribution and accuracy without speculating about competitor behaviour.
